Matt & Kim

I love doing indoor and outdoor combined sessions with couples because of the variety it affords. Photography is all about lighting - and in controlled lighting vs natural light the same people (or person) can look so totally different. I hate to be limited to just one kind of light! Bring it on - sun or studio lights. And for Matt and Kim, whose wedding I am photographing next month, I just love how they look good in any kind of light! I favored their serious faces in a lot of these, but they really were having fun - I promise! And so was I. I just love couples like this who like a little adventure, really are in tune to one another, are easy going, totally appreciate the artistic approach to photography and oh by the way are also incredibly photogenic. I can't wait for the wedding!

Kiedis @ 3 months

What could you accomplish in 3 months? Start and finish a project. Maybe renovate a room in your house. Deploy to a foreign country. Tour Europe. Or at least part of Europe. Meet the person of your dreams and fall madly in love and get married (hey, if it's the person of your dreams, why wait?). But whatever you might accomplish in 3 months, it's probably nothing like the miracle of change that comes as a child grows from the first days of life. I am not a mother, so I can only guess from seeing the children of friends through pictures and some personal encounters. But as a photographer I sometimes get the opportunity to watch the growth somewhat more closely. Kiedis is an example. I photographed him several weeks after he was born, and now three months later I can see the changes. The smiles. The faces. The length of his (maybe someday dancer's) legs and arms. And in the way he fits differently into the embrace of his parents. And in the way they are more comfortable holding him then they were a few short months ago. I am very lucky to be able to witness this miracle. And capture it in time.
